Team Improve District Ranking
The Glynn Academy “Terror” sailing team improved their district (NC, SC,
TN, GA, FL) ranking to fourth overall in the twenty-eight team SAISA (South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association)
by placing second overall in Lower Coastal Regatta Number Two sailed at The Florida Yacht Club on 18 October, , 2008.
Eight teams from South Carolina (Academic Magnet, Wando, First Baptist), Georgia (Glynn Academy, Brunswick, Richmond Hill,
St. Vincent’s), and Florida (Bolles) participated. The day started with Northerly winds at 7-10 knots, shortly after
noon a front blew through while the fleet was on a downwind leg, winds increased to over 20 knots making for some interesting
sailing. Racing was suspended until the front cleared the area. Following the front winds decreased to under 10 knots for
the remainder of the regatta. Senior skipper and team captain Kim Heine and crew freshman Evan Pool got the Terror’s
off to a great start by winning the first race. With four regattas remaining, the team is poised to make the top six team
cut who will compete in the District Championship to be held in St. Petersburg Florida in March.
